Anguish born from vacancy
Desiccant winds howl through the barren lots
Redemption to be found in
Corrupted eyes lining crumbling tombs
Maelstrom fury breaks the world
As the souls within will twist across the time
Life’s finale’s throbbing dance
Vistas writhe in black apocalypse
Falling from the heights unknown
Plummeting from the teeth of an ending world
Close your eyes and scream into
The belly of oblivion
High above the world’s demise
The sky’s malicious exaltation
Cavorts through scorchéd summits and
Conducts the world in desolation
Second dawn
Gives way to more
Impossible
Open eyes once more
Clarity obscured before
The dancing glimmer of tunnel’s dwindling end
Dims into infinity
Hold steady between these eyes of mine

Synaptic collapse
The neurons burn
Grey matter dissolved
Yet everything is stitched alive
No desire to see
Think, feel or taste
Never atrophied
The plight of one ignored
Return thoughts to hope
Where hope did end
Liquid death again
Back into Poseidon’s arms
Waterlogged graves
Unaligned now
Rise from the depths

Through the ages holding silent
Watch as humankind performs its best to end
The great creators foresaw eternity
Dancing in their perfect cosmos
Yet in the end they raised their arms
And tore themselves apart

A mockery of their greatness
In one fell swoop unthinking progeny
Of hubristic minds and shallow lives
The mortal spine of creation
Splintered in their hands, so abhorrent
They never stopped to hear the laughing skies
